2012 – 2014 | Themes, Prototypes & Microsites
I moved to NYC area in 2012 and worked as a digital contractor, often on multiple products at same time, both onsite and remote, until taking a salary gig in 2014.
I developed a niche with recruiters as a front end developer experienced in responsive visual design, typography, animation and pixel perfect detail. Clients often relied on me to complete design concepts in code or extend a look or a brand into a series of web pages, components and experiences.
ESPN Gallery Prototypes
As a contractor on Bristol, CT campus, I prototyped a variety of photo & video galleries for enhanced “long form” content development teams. These were created in standalone HTML5/CSS3/SASS/JS “modules” that could be repurposed across ESPN publishing stack.

Las Vegas Enablers
Contract to build a responsive front end for a Facebook API quiz microsite at a small NYC agency. Working with two strong devs from New York Times in the evenings founded my current Gitflow understanding and comfort working in standalone HTML/JS codebases. This project also introduced me to using animation to help users find their way through a workflow.
Federal Reserve Audition
For a potential contract with the Federal Reserve Bank in NYC, I built this simple photo gallery to demonstrate my ability to work in a specific Backbone/Marionette.js env and build something functional from scratch with a ‘close to the metal’ approach.
Havas Worldwide AOTY 2013 Microsite
Short contract for Havas Worldwide in NYC to spin up a microsite as their ‘Agency of the Year’ submission. Working onsite directly with marketing team and leveraging WordPress ecosystem, we got this delivered start to finish – including content and deployment in two weeks.
Edelman / GE Annual Summary Microsite
Another single product ad-agency contract, this portfolio microsite featuring a full year of work by Edelman NYC for General Electric. Working directly with account reps onsite and remote, I created portfolio entries editable by Edelman staff, again leveraging WordPress ecosystem, while I developed the details of fanciful parallax presentation based on example experiences presented by client.
