2016 | Scout Financial | Portfolio Management App
I was referred to Scout Financial as a UI expert to recreate a successful mobile app experience as a browser based application targeted for large screens.
Because this was my first React project, I first built a standalone set of HTML/CSS/JS templates to establish template structure, animation & scrolling tactics for the React architect to review.
After establishing confidence with him, I dove into the React front end templating, cutting my standalone work and adapting patterns to actual MVP codebase.
After rolling off completed contract, team asked me back to help solve another round of stickier UI development, illustrated in the walkthrough video at the bottom of this page.
Static Front End Dev
This video detail of table container hover interactions illustrates the kind of HTML/SCSS work I was contracted to provide.
I created a complete static repo where the Scout architect could review and guide directory structures/code conventions for smoother integration.

Another video I found in the archives details the annual & quarterly table interactions.
Thanks to rigorous architecture and similarities to Angular, integrating my UI work into functioning React components was pretty straight forward once I got the hang of different syntax and using only observables.

In my second engagement, Scout team asked me to help solve some more detailed UX issues in MVP code relating to logins, the audio player and overflowing lists.
In this longer screencast which covers more real user flows, I walk through improvements & possibilities.
